Pastor Gabriel Cordeiro continues on his Armor of God series covering the next two spiritual pieces of equipment that is given to believers
1) Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: Paul writes about having feet "fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace". Like the heavy, stud-bottomed sandals (caligae) worn by Roman soldiers, these spiritual shoes provide firm footing and stability so a believer can stand strong against challenges and attacks
The boots represents a steady, confident daily walk or journey of faith grounded in God's good news. It also represents an inner calm from God that keeps believers prepared at all times to share the message of peace and the Gospel with others.
2) Shield of Faith: Here Paul compares trust in God to a Roman soldier’s large door-like shield (scutum). It was made of two sections of wood and covered with leather. The soldier then soaked the shield in water. When the warrior thrust his shield forward to protect himself, fiery arrows sank into the wood and were immediately extinguished.
Raise your SHIELD of faith. Faith is having complete trust in Jesus Christ. Raise your shield, stay close to Jesus, so HE will protect you from the fiery darts (any number of negative things the enemy throws at you )in our lives..
Just as the military shields locked together to protect the soldier next to them, a family's shared faith creates an impenetrable wall against hardship, emphasizing a unified, collective defense rather than isolated, individual protection
